The 7th hole from the tee

December 2016

Swallows
A very warm welcome to all our returning migrants from the Northern Hemisphere. Thank you for all the positive feedback we have received regarding the course changes. Very much appreciated.

New Course Record
Nicholas Mitchell took full advantage of the dry, hot conditions to produce an amazing 36 hole total of 128 to win the Knysna Open, shooting scores of 62 and 66. On the 9th hole he had an eagle 3 in the first round and an albatross 2 in the second – our longest par 3!

Drought
The unpredictability of South African weather has, for the 2nd time in 8 years, resulted in our course being severely affected by lack of rain. As a result we have reverted to preferred lies and we ask all players to ensure that the roots are covered with sand when filling divots. Hopefully, we will soon get the rain we need to bring the course back to top condition.

Construction
Work on course improvements will recommence at the end of January and our main focus will be on bringing our bunkers up to standard. A slightly coarser sand will be incorporated.
The work will be ongoing through autumn, winter and spring and adequate funding has been allocated by the committee.

Season’s Greetings
On behalf of the greens committee and greens staff we wish all members and guests a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and safe New Year.

For the greens committee
