Yesterday Knysna Golf Club was honoured and delighted to welcome one the greatest golfers ever – Gary Player.
During his career, Gary won nine major championships on the regular tour and nine major championships on the Seniors’ Champions Tour. At the age of 29, he won the 1965 U.S. Open and became the only non-American to win all four majors in a career, known as the career Grand Slam. He has won 163 tournaments on six continents over seven decades and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.
Gary Player spent the afternoon on the course during the regular Wednesday Men’s competition meeting our members, having photos taken and chatting with everyone he met. Later he attended the prize-giving and spoke to a packed house about his career, what motivated him to achieve so much and ‘The Player Foundation’, which has the primary objective of promoting underprivileged education around the world.
Thank you Gary.
