Knysna Golf club has appointed Meyer du Toit as General Manager.
A highly experienced golf and management professional, Meyer spent over 11 years as Head PGA Professional at Sparrebosch and Simola and General Manager at Pezula. He also spent seven years as General Manager & Golf Director at the prestigious San Lameer Country Club in KZN until January 2020 when he moved to Florida to become personal manager (and occasional caddie) to Branden Grace.
“Touring the States with Branden was an amazing experience”, Meyer said. “We were constantly on the move. I have learnt a lot through the PGA Tour this year and walked some of the most beautiful courses in the world, I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I had.”He and his wife Vickey, who grew up in Knysna, finally decided it was time to settle down and raise a family in the town they’ve always regarded as home and moved back to the Simola Estate just before Christmas.
“Soon after arriving back, I heard that Knysna Golf Club was advertising the position of General Manager and I became very excited”, Meyer explained. “Having spent much of my career here, I’d built strong relationships with many clubs in the area and knew the position could offer a fantastic opportunity to renew old acquaintances and develop new contacts.”
“I’ve always regarded Knysna as an incredibly welcoming club. It’s a truly visitor-friendly course and has one of the best clubhouses I’ve ever seen. I even get a buzz just driving into the car park”, he confessed. “I already feel at home here.”
Club Captain David McIlvenna says: “Meyer’s drive, enthusiasm and approachable manner was exactly what we were looking for. This, together with his knowledge and understanding of the golfing landscape in this area, made him an outstanding candidate.”
Club President Kevin Horack added: “Meyer du Toit is one of the best in the business when it comes to golf management and promotion. I believe our club is truly fortunate to have somebody of Meyer’s calibre on board and we look forward to welcoming him to our team on 1st March. It will be a privilege and pleasure to work with him over the coming months.”
