Rain stops play (again)
Yet another wet Thursday…and a ‘waterlogged pitch’ to boot, resulting in the cancellation of our SA v The World competition. Shame. But I guess we should be glad of some good rain. On the bright side, the lack of golf meant that the ladies could hold an impromptu committee meeting on Thursday afternoon! So, here’s the gist:
Christmas Competition
There is room for two more 4-balls for our Christmas Competition on November 30. So, if you or anyone you know wants to play, please put your names down as soon as possible. Ladies who have already entered are reminded to pay their competition fee (which includes lunch) by next Thursday (23rd) to avoid congestion at the green fees office on the morning of the 30th.
League
If you are available & would like to play league next year, please get in touch with organiser Judith Flevill via the Club
The format & fixture list of the Bronze league is being ‘slimmed down’ for 2018. There will no longer be a foursomes league during the winter months & Bronze League teams will now consist of only 4 players. Each team will play the others once only. There will all be no Bronze league matches in winter.
Festive Season Golf
Our last regular competition draw for the year will be on 14th December. Thereafter there will be a time sheet for Thursdays. Regular ladies’ golf will re-commence on Thursday 11th January.
In the news
The picture & story of the ‘grand stuffing’ of the Knysna Santa Box backpacks appeared in last week’s Knysna-Plett Herald. If you missed it, just go to the club’s Facebook page or the news section of the club’s website: https://knysnagolfclub.com/news/
Thanks once again to all of you who contributed. We look forward to the draw for the grown-ups’ Santa Box at the ladies Christmas lunch and, indeed, to being present when the kids of Hornlee Primary receive their packs!
Social Scene
I (for my sins), along with John Stavers have been asked by the Executive Committee to devise & organise a programme of social events for the club for 2018. Our first task will be to meet with Club Manager (Quinten Webster) to review past events to see which ones have been successful and, if not, why not. We also want to take stock of the PA & ‘electronic entertainment systems’ in the clubhouse as the availability & siting of these is a major issue when determining the kind of events that are feasible. John & l welcome input & ideas from members on our social programme – and any offers to help with the organisation Please feel free to contact any one of your Committee members should you wish to address an issue, put forward an idea or even…a compliment.
Any suggestions as to what should be included in this newsletter are welcomed. You can contact Marion Mack direct via the Club office.
