Simply Red
Wow – what a terrific turnout for our Christmas competition and lunch on 29 November! The simple ‘red & white’ theme worked a treat with many of our ladies going the extra mile to sport some colourful (and, sometimes, quite bizarre outfits), bringing smiles and laughter all round. The excellent festive lunch was enjoyed by all, as were the delightful table decorations, ‘Halfway Choir’ and team quiz. Do visit the club’s Facebook page for all the results and pictures.
Christmas Changes
As the festive season is upon us, the course will become increasingly busy with visitors over the coming weeks. This means that timesheets will be in operation on Thursdays: 13, 20, 27 December 2018 and 3 January 2019. If there are enough ladies, there will be a competition and the usual comp fees will apply. However, there will be no formal prize giving and prize monies can be collected from the green fees office afterwards. It’s up to players to check results with the green fees office.
Knockout reminder
Our new Betterball Knockout Competition is nearing the end of its first-round matches. Ladies are reminded that this is a RED TEE event, so you can’t elect to play off any other tee!
League
We encourage as many ladies as possible to play league next year. So, if you’d like to represent our club, please contact Judith Flevill on 071 129 6142 – and stay after prize giving on 10 January 2019 for a league meeting/social.
Meet & Greet
The committee will be hosting a meet & greet for new lady members after prizegiving on 7 February. Please stay to ensure that our ‘newbies’ receive a warm welcome.
Thanks a million…
…to all of your who so generously donated toiletries and cash to the elderly residents of Loeriehof and Vermont. Wendy and Julia will be (literally) delivering the goods to the two care homes on the morning of 18 December.
Go Lightleys!
Many congratulations to the mother & daughter duo of Tanya & Lizzie Lightly for flying the Knysna flag high at the recent Fancourt Open. Lizzie tied for 4th place in Division A with a gross score of 81, four shots behind the winner. Meanwhile, Tanya did even better in the B Division taking the runners-up prize with a gross 84 – 2 shots off the pace.
Don’t Forget
The much-anticipated new R&A Rules of Golf come into effect on 1 January. Both Judith Flevill and Sunette Venter have been outlining some of the more pertinent aspects over the past few weeks, but it’s up to each and every one of us to acquaint ourselves will the new rules as soon as possible.
Finally
The Lady Captain and her committee wish all our members a happy, joyful and peaceful Festive Season – and great golf in 2019!
